Fascists of the left

According to the LA Times, the Supreme Court has ruled that Federal agents may in fact arrest and bring charges against people who violate Federal drug laws, even if they are complying with the medical marijuana laws which have been passed in nine states.

People who know me won’t be surprised to learn that I am (duh) in favor of legalizing marijuana, for medical use or otherwise. So, given our government’s ridiculous stance on drugs, I’m not particularly surprised when I see our government attempt to maintain control over people who want to get high.

But, even given my personal interest in drug legalization, that’s not the interesting part of this story. What makes this case interesting to me is that it’s really a test of state’s rights; namely, the right of the state to make a law which goes against the laws of the nation. And what makes it even more interesting is that it’s the LEFTIST (together with extreme rightist) fascists on the Supreme Court that ruled in favor of the Federal government.

This underscores an important point: though it’s easy to throw darts at Bush and his fascist cronies in the Executive branch, the liberals in America are just as bad. Witness how they have perverted the American university system into a system of left-wing brainwashing that forbids free speech, all in the name of “diversity” and “political correctness”, or how they want to make excessively outrageous laws to tax you and fund increasingly questionable programs to force people to behave in public like a bunch of eunuchs who can’t have their own opinions, or at least not controversial ones.

So, in America, if there’s one thing the left and right agree on, it’s this: make the Federal government an even more powerful central monolithic authority, and prevent the various cultures in our country from maintaining their disparate immigrant identities. It’s called fascism, either way you look at it.
